This package also installs Broadcom Advanced Control Suite 2 (BACS2) which is an integrated utility that provides useful information about each network adapter that is installed in your computer. BACS2 also enables you to perform detailed tests, diagnostics, and analyses on each adapter, as well as to view and modify property values and view traffic statistics for each adapter. If this package has been installed, updating (overwrite-installing) this package will fix problems, add new functions, or expand functions as noted below. Right-click My Computer and select Properties. 2. Click the Hardware tab and click Device Manager. 3. Click the "+" sign in front of the Network adapters type to open the all devices in that type. 4. Double-click the following device; Broadcom NetLink Gigabit Ethernet 5. To determine if you should update the software, refer to the Version Information section. --------------- Ethernet Driver --------------- Manual Install UPDATE INSTALL: To update the driver, follow the instructions below: 1. Start Windows XP. 2. Click Start, then click Control Panel. 3. Click Performance and Maintainance , then click System. 4. Click the Hardware tab. 5. Click Device Manager. 6. Expand the Network adapters category. 7. Right-click Broadcom NetLink Gigabit Ethernet and click Properties. 8. Click the Driver tab. 9. Click Update Driver. 10. Select "No, not this time" and click Next. 11. Select "Install from a list or specific location", then click Next. 12. Select "Search for the best driver in these locations" and "Include this location in the search". 13. Click Browse. 14. Locate the driver folder and click OK. 15. Click Next. The driver installation starts. 16. Click Finish when the installation completes. 17. Click Close. CLEAN INSTALL: (Found New Hardware Wizard) If this is the first time to boot Windows XP, the OS detects the Ethernet Controller automatically. To install the device driver, follow the instructions below. 1. Start Windows XP. It displays "Found New Hardware Wizard" dialog box. 2. Select "Install from a list or specific location", then click Next. 3. Select "Search for the best driver in these locations" and "Include this location in the search.". 4. Click Browse. 5. Locate the driver and click OK. 6. Click Next. The driver installation starts. 7. Click Finish. CLEAN INSTALL: (Ethernet Controller in Other devices) Windows XP detected the "Ethernet Controller", but was not able to find the correct device driver. In this case, you will see "Ethernet Controller" in "Other devices" in "Device Manager". To install the driver, follow the instructions below. 1. Start Windows XP. 2. Click Start, then click Control Panel. 3. Click System. 4. Click the Hardware. 5. Click Device Manager. 6. Right-click Ethernet Controller in "Other devices" and click Properties. 7. Click Reinstall Driver. 8. Select "No, not this time" and click Next. 9. Select "Install from a list or specific location.". 10. Click Next in the "Hardware Upgrade Wizard" dialog box. 11. Select "Search for the best driver in these locations" and "Include this location in the search" only. 12. Click Browse. 13. Locate driver and click OK. 14. Click Next. The driver installation starts. 15. Click Finish when the installation completes. 16. Click Close. Unattended Install This is for system administrators' use only. 1. Start Windows and logon with administrative privileges. 2. Extract the package to the hard drive. The default location is C:\DRIVERS\WIN\ETHERNET. 3. Click Start, then click All Programs. 4. Click Accessories, then click Run. 5. Specify SETUP.EXE /s /v/qn with the full path name where you extracted the package in the step 2, and click OK. Example: C:\DRIVERS\WIN\ETHERNET\TOOLS\DRVINST\IA32\SETUP.EXE /s /v/qn 6. Follow the instructions on the screen. then reboot the system.
