Installation instructions ------------------------- NOTE: The ThinkPad Software Installer provides install and uninstall wizards for this package. Manual installation 1. Start Windows. 2. Extract this package onto the hard disk drive. 3. Click Start and then click Run. 4. In the Run dialog window, specify C:\DRIVERS\MDMLUC\SETUP.EXE and click OK. If you extracted the files to a different location, then specify that location instead. 5. Follow the instructions. If you see the message 'Digital Signature Not Found' appears, click the OK button to continue installing. 6. Restart the system for the driver to be effective. Unattended installation ----------------------- This is for system administrators' use only. 1. Start Windows Me 2. Extract the drivers to the hard disk drive. (Assume the location of extracted files is C:\DRIVERS\MDMLUC) 3. Click Start and then click Run. 4. Type C:\DRIVERS\MDMLUC\Setup.EXE -S, then click OK. Manual uninstallation 1. Start Windows. 2. Click Start, select Settings, and then click Control panel. 3. Double-click the Add/Remove Programs icon in the Control Panel. 4. Select Lucent Win Modem. 5. Click the Add/Remove button. 6. Click the Yes button in the confirmation window. 7. When asked to restart the system, click the Yes button. NOTE: If you do not remove the modem hardware, then Windows will detect the modem in the next boot. Determining which version is installed ------------------------------------------ If there is an alphabet letters in the version number, check the date stamp of each file which version is installed. Start Windows Me 2. Click Start, point to Search, then click For Files or Folders. 3. In the Search for files or folders named: field, type the file name listed above in the table. 4. Check if C: is included in the Look in: field. 5. Click the Search Options link and select the Advanced Options check box. Then check the Search Subfolders check box. 6. Click the Find Now button. Windows Me will now search your hard drive for the specified file. If the file is not found, then the Modem driver is not installed on your system. 7. When finished searching, select the file name, scroll the window to the right and look at the Modified column to check the date/time of the each file. To check the driver version. 1. Start Windows Me. 2. Click Start, select Settings, and then click Control Panel. 3. Double-Click the Modems icon. 4. Click the Diagnostics tab. 5. Select COM port with the name Lucent Win Modem. 6. Click the More Info button. 7. Check the Command | Response window to check the result of ATI3. The version of the driver installed is displayed.
