Installation Readme


This package installs the .NET Framework runtime and associated files 
required to run applications developed to target the .NET Framework v2.0.

This package requires approximately 250MB of space on your hard
drive.

- Windows XP Service Pack 2


New functions or enhancement
============================
The .NET Framework version 2.0 improves scalability and performance of applications
with improved caching, application deployment and updating with ClickOnce, support 
for the broadest array of browsers and devices with ASP.NET 2.0 controls and services. 


Determining which version is installed
======================================
Check if the RegKey property has one of the following values:
    For the .NET Framework 1.0: 
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\.NETFramework\policy\v1.0

    For the .NET Framework 1.1: 
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\.NETFramework\policy\v1.1
    
    For the .NET Framework 2.0: 
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\.NETFramework\policy\v2.0


Software requirements
===================== 
- Windows Installer 3.0 (except for Windows 98/ME, which require Windows 
  Installer 2.0 or later). 
- Windows Installer 3.1 or later is recommended.
- IE 5.01 or later: You must also be running Microsoft Internet Explorer 
  5.01 or later for all installations of the .NET Framework.

Manual Install
--------------
This section assumes to use Internet Explorer and Explorer.

Downloading files
-----------------
1. Click the file link to download the file from the Web page.
2. When prompted, select a drive and directory in which to save the downloaded 
   file. 

Installing files
----------------
3. Locate the directory where the file was downloaded.
4. Double-click on dotnetfx.exe file.
5. Follow the instructions on the screen.

Unattended Install
------------------
This is for system administrators' use only.
- Refer to the Manual Install section, and download and expand the
  files.
- At the command line, execute dotnetfx.exe with the /S option.
  Example: [Path where the files were extracted]\dotnetfx /S


Uninstallation instruction
===========================
1. Logon with a User ID with Administrator privilege.
2. Open Control Panel.
3. Select "Programs", then "View installed updates" under "Program
   and Features".
4. Select update modules listed under "Microsoft Windows" section.
5. Follow the instructions on the screen.
