Its components provide a sophisticated security architecture protecting your computer from attacks by unauthorized persons. ThinkVantage Fingerprint Software 5.5 offers top-level user convenience, it is easy to install and easy to use. ThinkVantage Fingerprint Software enables - reliable user authentication based on fingerprint recognition - boot protection using fingerprints - easy access to a computer using fingerprints (Logon Protector) ThinkVantage Fingerprint Software is designed with regard to needs of common users. No special knowledge is required to use it, despite the fact that it is top-level software using the most progressive security technologies. 2.0 CHANGE HISTORY 2.1 ThinkVantage Fingerprint Software Version 5.5 - These changes were made in the current version: 5.5 Build 2918 FIX: Fixed problems with CryptoAPI when user password is changed during enrollment. Was causing that also limited user could enable the tbx when selferollment in logon was used and secure mode was also selected. FIX: Fixed misleading error message when password is changed while logged on using password. After logon there was a message about impossibility to logon. Now the logon will ask for new password. FIX: Fixed reader priority in case that BIOS is reporting not consistent data. Some Lenovo notebooks are reporting support for external sensors even if there is no support for External sensors in BIOS. UPD: Updated copyright year. 3.0 SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS Refer to the "Installing ThinkVantage Fingerprint Software" chapter in the User's Guide, for the detail. 3.1 H/W requirements -Must have a biometric device -Can be integrated or used with a usb fingerprint reader device. 3.2 Supported Windows OS: Windows 2000 Professional Windows XP Home Windows XP Professional Windows XP Tablet PC Edition 2005 3.3 Supported Languages - Dutch - Danish - English - Finnish - French - German - Italian - Japanese - Korean - Norwegian - Portuguese - Portuguese (Brazil) - Spanish - Simplified Chinese - Swedish - Traditional Chinese 4.0 INSTALLATION ThinkVantage Fingerprint Software installation is carried out by the Setup wizard. It is recommended to read explaining texts in wizard screens to avoid potential problems. The detailed description of the installation procedure can be found in the user documentation. Necessary drivers for fingerprint hardware are installed during the software installation. 4.1 SILENT INSTALL Silent installation of ThinkVantage Fingerprint Software is also possible. Run Setup.exe in the Install directory on your installation media. Use the following syntax: Setup.exe /q /i You can specify the following properties: USERNAME Name of user for registration of installation COMPANYNAME Name of company for registration of installation INSTALLDIR Installation directory Example: Setup.exe USERNAME="Test user" COMPANYNAME="MyCompany" INSTALLDIR="F:\Program Files\ThinkVantage Fingerprint Software" /q /i All properties are optional. To uninstall, use /x instead of /i. SMS INSTALL 4.2 SMS Installations are also supported. Open SMS Administrator Console, create a new package and set package properties in a standard way. Open the package and select New-Program in Programs item. To the command line field, enter Setup.exe /m yourmiffilename /q /i Optionally, enter desired parameters as described in the Silent Install section. Setup normally reboots at the end of installation process. If you want to suppress all reboots during installation and reboot later (after installing more programs), add REBOOT="ReallySuppress" to the list of properties. 6.0 LIMITATIONS AND CONSIDERATIONS -Power-on security considerations Optional BIOS power-on security feature secures access to your computer on BIOS level. However, setup of your BIOS is not automatically protected. BIOS power-on security can be disabled in BIOS setup.
